A Visit to the Mighty Eighth

I had the opportunity today to visit the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, GA. What a wonderful time! It’s a collection of memorabilia, videos, artifacts, uniforms, and models that brings to life the history of the Eighth Air Force, which led the air war against Germany in World War 2 (and beyond). It’s also a memorial to the fallen, winners of the Medal of Honor, and more.

If you’re in the area (just north of Savannah, GA), I heartily recommend giving it a visit. The highlight for me was the B-17 they are in the process of restoring, the “City of Savannah”, 5,000th plane processed through Savannah during the war. The films are also a great window into the conduct of the air war, something I knew comparatively little about.

Here’s a collection of photos from my visit. Enjoy!
