Community Greyhawk – The Song of Iara

Today’s community Greyhawk takes us to The Song of Iara, a sequel/expansion of 2019’s Ghosts of Saltmarsh. It’s a 117 page pdf, with a standard 5E interior layout, color and b&w interior art, and maps by Dyson Logos. It has a disclaimer about mental health, and is designed for high level (15-20) characters. It focuses on otherworldly/fey connected to the Standing Stones in Saltmarsh, and is divided into several sections; Fables & Legends, The Breaking Storm, The Ritual of Transit, and The Caged Siren, in addition to having several appendices.

The adventure is well-grounded in Greyhawk lore, but some of the action takes place in extra-planar areas, and there are notes on how to use it in Eberron, the Forgotten Realms, and Mystara.

The adventure seems very well-done, but like most 5E material, it’s heavily scripted, which to my mind makes it feel railroady, but I know that having a set storyline to follow is all the rage these days when it comes to adventure design, so take that as you will. For $19.95, you get a lot, and the adventure will certainly last for multiple sessions. If you’ve gone through Saltmarsh and want to keep on going, this is a great way to do that (although the market is, admittedly, flooded with Saltmarsh material, no pun intended).

You can purchase the book here.
