Today we look at the Forgotten Tomb of Acererak by Cannibaal Publishing (Troy Alleman as lead designer and written by William Henry Dvorak). This is a 73 page print book and/or pdf with a two-column layout with hand-done b&w art and maps. The pdf has links (yay!) and ends with 10 pages or so of maps and handouts.
There’s a ton to like about this book, from the art (that cover image is, of course, intended to be evocative of the Gold Box era, with its brown leather and brass fittings look) to the theme. Acererak is, as most Greyhawk fans will remember, the demi-lich behind the infamous Tomb of Horrors by Gary Gygax. This module details another tomb created by the lich in the Cairn Hills, which uncovered a great artifact that is the driving force of the adventure. The village of Blackrock, whence the PCs launch into the adventure, is described, as is a village of cavefolk, and three connected adventures (plus info on more adventures that can be had in the vicinity).
All in all, this is a very nicely done adventure, that takes advantage of the setting and feels organic to it. Definitely worth getting for $6.99 in pdf, and I sprung for the $15.99 for the print + pdf option.
