Any plans to rerelease the other products for 1E and 2E and other editions, either in print or electronically?
We
are looking at making a lot of that older material available to you,
but we want to make sure we do it right for you guys and for Wizards.
We’ll have more news on that.
From today’s Upcoming Products seminar at D&DXP:
And so it begins…
I thought I heard something outside. Must be that parade. π
π
This will go a long way towards bringing back into the fold (or at least appeasing) the old school crowd. I applaud WotC for this and would encourage them to make more 1st ed(and others) content available to the public.
Yup we saw this coming! They are making progress guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!
Yes, it's a BLAST from the PAST!
All of those FABULOUSLY classic modules have been MAGNIFICENTLY repackaged (like those INCREDIBLE AD&D core books). Now, they're once again available… at OUR WONDERFULLY MODERN DAY PRICES!
Isn't THAT exciting?!
Just can't win.
When WotC removed the pdf's of older material from circulation, they were castigated.
When they say they may once more make those older materials available in some to-be-determined format, GW castigates them.
I'm all for calling Wizards on the carpet when they do wrong, but you're just being unreasonable, my friend.
I read somewhere that the 1e reprints are going to be cheaper than they were in 1979, allowing for inflation.
I actually ran the numbers adjusting for inflation last year. The results were informative.

Well, Grendelwulf pretty much said what I wanted to say, so I'll take a different route. I'll believe WotC will give us back the older edition stuff in pdf form or print the day it happens, and not a moment sooner.
It's nice that the designers have their heart in it, but I don't trust the 800 pound gorilla called Hasbro.
I'm loving it! You can't keep a good edition (or ahem, game setting) down.
If/when WizBro re-releases the (good) old stuff, I'm sure they'll also release some conversion documents to help us translate both to and fro 5e.
Hey, great! They'll be in game stores, so I'll pick 'em up. *I* have all the stuff I want, but some friends would enjoy the rules/modules/supplements as gifts.
In that vein, I hope 'other Editions' means White Box, Holmes, B/X, BECMI, and RC D&Ds and their adventures.
Lol at 'do it right' for 'Wizards', it's Hasbro that has to sign off on it! π
This is a good step forward for Wizbro, but if they want more of *my* cash, they need to come out with *new* stuff that I can use with B/X(LL) and/or AD&D 2. Adventures in particular would be great. I mean, it works for Paizo, right? π
Thanx for posting!
Sounding promising!
The one thing I hope is that they publish the older material *unmodified*, rather than "D&D Next Compatible" reworkings of classics.
Sounds good to me. I'm in whenever they release. It's awesome that the old editions are coming back into print.
I also have to say I'm glad to see that the vocal minority aren't just showing up on my blog to rant about how horrible anyone is who posts anything remotely favorable about the nefarious Evil Empire.
Part of me wants to say "this will be awesome if they don't screw it up." But then I remember the dog-in-a-manger attitude of the same company to Classic D&D a couple of years back…
You can sit at your desk, dress any way you want, and fake your way into any subculture. Long enough to sell a whole lot of shoes.
