This just in… Ben Affleck will be playing Batman in the sequel to Man of Steel:
Yes, the Ben Affleck who did such a bang-up job in Daredevil, will now be playing an older Batman taking on Superman in the next movie. There’s probably no middle ground on this one. It’s either going to be great, or it’s going to be a spectacular disaster.
Yes, I made sure to check the date of the story. It’s not back-dated to April 1st.
Oh. Dear. God. Why?
What blows my mind is that Ben Affleck kinda sorta already played Superman in Hollywoodland so in a way he'll be the only actor to play both Batman and Superman.
Is he going to do the new voice?
What I find amazing is the amount of press this is getting. Just on the radio, I heard this story on Glen Beck, Rush, and ESPN radio. It may be the lead story on the network news tonight. The fans aren't happy, but Warner Brothers must be loving the publicity and the passion that the movie already generating.
I trust he's playing "Bruce Wayne?"
Otherwise, I think I'd prefer Joseph Gordon-Levit, to maintain the flow of the movies.
It irks me that they keep "starting over," redoing the "original" with new actors.
My god, it hasn't been THAT long ago!
Kids.
This version of Batman belongs with _Man of Steel_ in building a wider DC universe that leads up to Justice League, the way the Marvel movies led up to Avengers.
The Dark Knight Trilogy was great, but it had a beginning and an end, and doesn't really belong in a universe with numerous other superheroes.
