Q2 Web of Souls

Finally! At long last, I present to you Q2 Web of Souls, my replacement for the disappointing Q1 Queen of the Demonweb Pits.

This is intended as a complete replacement for Q1. It brings the focus back to the Elder Elemental God, which was the original intent of Gary Gygax back in the day, but the module ended up getting written by others who didn’t follow his notes.

The general outline is that the PCs go into Lolth’s stronghold looking to defeat the Elder Elemental God (who was ultimately behind the invasions of the giants into the lands of men), but then realize that Lolth is planning an even more devastating invasion of the Flanaess. They must then find a way to defeat them both.

Fortunately there are allies to be had in the Web, but there are also perils aplenty, of course. You can download the module here.

You might also want to download my adventure D4 City of Spiders. It’s an urban adventure set in Erelhei-Cinlu that helps set up the PCs with the information they need to complete their quest. If you’ve downloaded it before, you should get the latest version; it’s recently been updated with some corrections (thanks to Loren Rosson for pointing out a few things!). You can download it here.

Enjoy!

  1. Another great fan resource. Thank you for your hard work to provide these to the community. I know that it can’t be easy.

    ^Oerthling reaction 😉

Woo-hoo! I have been looking forward to this since you first announced it, Joe. I cannot wait to dive into it.

Thanks for bringing more Greyhawk to our gaming table!

    Happy gaming,
    Michael

  3. Great job on the adventure. I was a bit unclear on how the Players could lure Loth into fighting the Elder Elemental. I might have missed it, since I was kind of skimming parts.

  4. Excellent adaptation. Was wondering how you could make it a “both EEG and Lolth lose” scenario, and it’s a solid one.

Loved the Lolth Spaceship wrecked against the dwarven stronghold. 😉

The HHGttG reference was… ouchy… but the rest is so good you’re forgiven.

I was impressed at how you kept a number of items from the Q1 module in recognition that it wasn’t all bad, just misguided. And the web itself having multiple kinds of strands… very cool.

I will personally probably increase the power levels of some of the encounters. Drow patrols are decent, but these characters just got out of Erelhi-Cinlu and could use something a little different.

My only criticism would be that this would have been a great place to introduce the Greater Servants of the Eye. I mean, they’re about to eliminate EEG for good… let’s see ’em earn that! 🙂
