My complete map of Oerik

So many people have asked me for this over the years, I figured it was time to acquiesce, because my redone maps are taking much longer than I had hoped. I am personally not really satisfied with these, which is why I’m redoing them all, but so many people have asked, I figured something now was better than perfection later.

Here is my take on the map of Oerik (including the original Darlene map for scale and comparison). However, there are several things to note:

  • It is based on the Dragon Annual 1 map, the 2001 Chainmail setting “The Sundered Empire”, and The Black Moon Chronicles.
  • Naturally, I had to fill in new stuff, make decisions regarding contradictory material, etc. (especially with the Black Moon Chronicles material). I made the choices I felt were best at the time. Don’t ask me about some specific choice; I probably won’t remember my reasoning.
  • This is all my old maps. It does not include the redone versions of Zihindia or the Balkunish Basin that appeared in my Dragonne Magazine series. (Check them out here; they’re better, and come with full Guides and much more.)
  • This map should be fully zoomable so you can read the names of the cities and towns.
  • This map is in the process of being slowly re-done.
  • I know there are errors where map sections meet up. That is one reason I am redoing it.
  • I am not going to make any changes to this version, there won’t be any without labels, you can’t have the original Worldographer files, etc. My mapmaking efforts are focused on the redone map.

So, until I get around to completing the new maps (which will all include a Guide, monsters, etc.),

You can find the file here.

Enjoy!

  1. Thanks Joe! I’ve had various bits of this map and sometimes can’t find it. This will do until your next masterpiece 😉

  2. Uncanny how timely that you are Joe. I was just looking through all these Western Oerik maps today!

  3. Is there a Greyhawk open source glossary for new content submissions? Certainly not canon, but I came up with a history for a site in the Vesve Forest & thought to submit for consideration. Nothing as detailed as the old Living Greyhawk forums, but wondering what site(s) exist for Homebrew “alternative Greyhawk”.
