Community Greyhawk: Callistor Gazetteer

Over at The Domain of Greyhawk blog, author Paul Jurdeczka and editor Troy Alleman have released their free Callistor Gazetteer, which details the southwestern region of the Kingdom of Nyrond. There’s information on climate, history, politics and factions, etc. Plus both the province and the town of Callistor itself are detailed. Interestingly, there’s also a chapter on how to integrate various published modules into the region, from Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan to Quests from the Infinite Staircase. It’s written for 5E, but the mechanics are few (the stat blocks and a section on backgrounds), but most of the information is system neutral lore, and could be used with anything.

Given that it’s a free download, and clocks in at 81 pages, it’s a no-brainer to get a copy of this.

I do have two quibbles, however. First, “Gazetteer” is misspelled as “Gazetter” (but I’m sure they’ll fix that soon). Second, it contains a lengthy disclaimer about moral rights and such. That strikes me as odd as, given they’re already giving it away for free, they could have just used the Fan Content Policy and called it a day. Neither of those have any real impact on the content, however. Do get a copy.

  1. Thanks for the kind words. Corrected version for title and some other typos on way. Troy passed your message on.
The lengthy notice is because I don’t like some aspects of the FCP, and I was referring to some Living Greyhawk material I don’t want suggested I made open season by using and that notice basically does what I can not to.
