Apologies for falling behind on my reviews of community-produced Greyhawk material! I’ll try to get caught up over the next week or so.
To kick us off, we have Shadows Over Hawfair Green by Vitor Morelli, whom we’ve seen here before. This is a 74 page pdf, without bookmarks, with wide margins, double-spaced text, no interior art (or maps!), and an occasional lapse into Spanish rather than English. More than half of the book consists of appendices with monster stats, NPCs, and 5 pre-generated characters. Like the other adventures by Mr. Morelli, this presents itself as a “dark fantasy” adventure, but the only thing in the adventure to really indicate this is that the GM keeps getting told that “The mood is tense”, there is “oppressive silence”, and so forth.
On the whole, there’s very little that’s unique here, and the module suffers from not having any sort of maps to give the GM a hand in visualizing what’s going on. The plot is a straight-up “rescue the missing villagers” story, and while it’s not necessarily bad, it’s not particularly great, either. Still, it will definitely hold up for an evening’s play. And for $3 for the whole thing, it’s a decent bargain.
You can purchase it here.
