The Great Greyhawk Survey

I’d like to get a feel for how my fellow Greyhawk aficionados see the potential future of the World of Greyhawk. To that end, I’ve put together a little survey, and would heartily encourage everyone to let me know your thoughts.

Just a few things to preface this…

Do not read anything into this. I am doing this merely for my own curiosity, and have absolutely no knowledge of what Wizards of the Coast/Hasbro might be planning for the setting.

The following things are off the table. Please don’t include them in your survey responses:

  • Gary Gygax’s original Castle Greyhawk dungeons. We all want that as our #1, but it just ain’t gonna happen.
  • Living Greyhawk material. There are so many issues with rights and legalities and such, it’s just not a realistic option.
  • Computer games. This is solely intended to gauge interest in tabletop games.
Thanks, very much, and feel free to spread this far and wide!

You can find the survey here.

  1. I really like the survey, and if this is for the express purpose of one-day writing or collating information from old dragon magazines and what not count me in. Hell, count me in regardless. I have been running in Greyhawk since 1981 with no intention of moving elsewhere, even if I move to a different system,

  2. I don't think your poll really applies to my campaign, which departs substantially from the World of Greyhawk folio canon, but I'll mention it anyway. It's a "North American Greyhawk" which takes and runs with the idea that Greyhawk was originally run on an upside-down American map with Chicago as Greyhawk and Milwaukee as Dyvers. It uses many of the gods, names and characters from Greyhawk (Nerof Gasgal is Lord Mayor, the Rhennee are there, etc.) For me the most useful thing would be any kind of insight or reminiscences on how the original Gygax campaign was developed and run.

  3. I wanted to add that a Greyhawk product I would like to see is an NPC Folio. It should include the history of many (in)famous Greyhawk luminaries, like Mordenkainen, Warduke, and Iggwilv. It should also provide stat blocks for those NPCs at different points in Greyhawk history

For example, Mordy's early history with the Citadel of 8 would be accompanied by his youngish stat block. Two other stat blocks would be provided for him as his story progresses through the establishment of the Circle of 8 and the Greyhawk Wars.

  4. FYI I have begun converting my Living Greyhawk mods to Pathfinder, the first one, Blue Scales, Red Secrets, will be on sale soon. Learn more about LG in my book BDKR1: The Unofficial Living Greyhawk Bandit Kingdoms Summary.
