Castle of the Mad Archmage Poster Maps

EDIT: If you’re playing in my Greyhawk campaign, please don’t look at these maps!

Good news for fans of the Castle of the Mad Archmage!

Our erstwhile cartographer, Joe Bardales, has come up with a comprehensive set of poster maps covering levels 2-13 of the dungeon! Here’s just a sample of the wonderfulness that awaits your downloading pleasure (click to embiggen):

You can download a .zip file with the whole kit and kaboodle –> HERE <–

Of course, the individual 8.5″x11″ maps are already included in the regular .pdf file of Castle of the Mad Archmage, but these poster maps are really exceptional, and add a lot to the feeling that each level is a cohesive whole.

  1. I'm guessing I shouldn't look at this, Joe. Could you tell me if I'm wrong that this might have something to do with our campaign?

  2. Glad everyone is enjoying these. πŸ™‚

McAfee – I use it too but I don't get that warning with MediaFire.com downloads. I do get it with downloads from Megaupload.com however. Essentially, the warning is that the file "may" contain viruses/spyware/adware because there are a lot of files hosted on those sites that do, and McAfee just tags every download from those locations as a potential problem and warns you. I usually know and trust the source, so I just ignore the warning and download anyway.

  3. I think you're safe from your players looking at your maps. There is so much in the maps, a player would need to actually have them at your game. Any player with a binder larger than yours is therefore GUILTY! Or if they have one of those Kindle-Nook-thingies that reads pdfs. Just look for the blue glow from their screens!

Unless they spread the maps out amongst themselves. But, knowing where you want to go still doesn't mean you can get there anyways.

  4. Damnit! >.<

Shiny, spiffy maps and I can't look. Though, admittedly, I did look at the preview map (12, is it?) before you put up the warning and before my brain had engaged.

Guess you'll just have to kill me off before 12, eh? πŸ˜€

  5. All hail Bloch & Bardales!
Hmm, I'm going to have to include a cartography shop in my next game with that name.

Thanks! You guys are the best!

    Ciao!

  6. They look really nice! IMO, it helps a lot to envision the dungeon level as a whole, both for the DM and the players — once they've mapped it, of course! πŸ™‚

I especially like how the smaller maps come together in levels 3 and 4.

  7. Son of a bitch, Kevin. Thanks for the heads-up. I'm contacting lulu to see about getting the miscreant's file removed, and will take other action as appropriate and possible.

Thanks for doing the right thing.

  8. The mediafire link has been broken – someone complained that it violated their TOS. You might want to contest that.

Also, my thread necromancy skills are still working well. Come my minion threads, do my bidding!

  9. Hi Joseph — I notice that these maps are no longer in the "Free Resources" section of the sidebar. Are they still obtainable?
